Italea Valle d’Aosta will be present in New York on October 14, on the occasion of Columbus Day 2024, a national celebration that honors the figure of Christopher Columbus and the Italian-American cultural heritage. This presence is part of a context of long tradition that sees Italy as a protagonist in the United States, uniting the Italian communities that have taken root overseas with their country of origin.
Columbus Day, which is traditionally held every year on the second Monday of October, is not only a celebration of the discovery of America, but also an opportunity to reconnect the Aosta Valley roots with the Italodescendants who keep Italian culture alive in their families and communities.
Italea Valle d’Aosta will participate in the parade and in the events scheduled to promote the rich historical, cultural and natural heritage and meet the descendants of those Valle d’Aosta who, over the last two centuries, have left our Alpine valleys to seek new opportunities in America. In this sense, it is a unique opportunity to be present at Columbus Day in New York means an extraordinary opportunity for international visibility for Valle d’Aosta. Participation in this celebration brings with it the opportunity to make known a unique and particular reality, often less known than other larger and more famous Italian regions, but no less interesting or rich in history.
