The experience

In the heart of the magnificent Italian Alps, stands an extraordinary engineering masterpiece: the Skyway Cable Car. Through this experience, you can closely observe the breathtaking beauty of Mont Blanc, the symbol of Aosta Valley. At the arrival stations you can reconnect with the landscape of your ancestors and take souvenir photographs of one of the most magical places in the world.

The ingenuity behind the Skyway Cable Car

Over the decades, engineering companies in the high mountains have been the work sites for many Aosta Valley residents and many people from Aosta Valley who emigrated abroad. The Skyway Cable Car represents the avant-garde landing place of this centuries-old experience: a marvel of modern engineering, picking up the legacy of a great past. Its construction was completed in 2015, and since then it has fascinated visitors from all over the world. The structure is composed of three different stations: the departure station in Courmayeur, the intermediate station at Pavillon du Mont Fréty, and the arrival station at the summit of Mont Blanc.

Rediscover the mountains loved by your ancestors through the panoramic view you can enjoy from the rotating cabins of the Skyway Cable Car. Equipped with large windows, the cabins allow passengers to admire the beauty of the Aosta Valley Alps unobstructed and without having to undertake a complex hike that would require specific athletic training. This journey to the peaks is, at the same time, a journey of the soul: ascending towards the sky, where civilization thins out, is a way to reconnect with your family history. A unique and memorable experience that remains imprinted in your emotional DNA.

Reconnect with your roots on Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak

Reaching the summit of Mont Blanc with the Skyway Cable Car is just the beginning of an extraordinary adventure. Once at the Punta Helbronner station, guests find themselves at an altitude of over 3,400 meters. Here, they can enjoy spectacular views of the mountain range, the vast expanse of ice of the Giant Glacier and other surrounding peaks.

At several points, it is possible to observe, through photographs and reconstructions, the changes in the Mont Blanc glaciers over the course of the 20th century: this allows you to compare the current scenario with the landscape known to your family in the past.

A journey through time, history and nature

The Skyway Cable Car is not just a means of transport to the peaks; it is also a journey through history and nature. Along the way, guests can learn interesting information about the formation of the Alps and the local fauna and flora. Concrete bridges to discover the Aosta Valley land, today and over time, and to get closer to the places of your roots. Moreover, the stations are enriched with interactive exhibitions that allow for a deeper understanding of this unique mountain environment.
