The experience
The plant from which genepy is made represents the character of the people of Aosta Valley. Proud and solitary, the Artemisia (glacialis and artemisia weber) used for the Genepy grows above an altitude of 2000-2500 meters. Among the rocks and pastures, it used to be possible to collect it to produce the most iconic liquor of Aosta Valley. A convivial alcoholic beverage that was said to have beneficial properties on the digestive system and even antipyretic effects.
With this experience, it will be possible to learn about the past from a unique perspective, that of taste. Low sugar and a predominant herbaceous flavor are the most significant tasting notes. Today, the tradition lives on in distilleries that have bravely continued to produce this liquor. During the visit, it will be possible to follow the steps of this liquor’s preparation, just as our ancestors meticulously did. And after work, in true Aosta Valley style, it’s time to enjoy a tasting. Today, Genepy exists in several variations: you just have to discover your favorite.
