To celebrate International Francophonie Day, which falls on March 20th each year, Aosta Valley organizes a series of cultural events throughout the region during the month of March.
French has been the language of culture and official acts for a long time. Knowledge of such an important language has been an important intangible heritage for Aosta Valley.
The events have the patronage of the International Organization of the Francophonie and are aimed at the general public. Exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts, and conferences make up a packed program of events for all ages.
The conferences and cultural initiatives are organized by the regional administration in collaboration with the Presidency of the Council of Aosta Valley, the Alliance française of Aosta Valley, the University of Aosta Valley, the section from Aosta Valley of the Union Internationale de la Presse Francophone, the Fort Bard Association, the “Amis du cimetière du Bourg” Association, the Natalino Sapegno Foundation, the Grand-Paradis Foundation, the Abbé Trèves Study Center, the Council of Young People from Aosta Valley, the Intercultura onlus Foundation, and the Library System of Aosta Valley.
